Our Story
CBS Building Group was founded in 1964 by Bill and Peggy Church as North Queensland Building Services — operating initially from their Townsville home and building a reputation on waterproofing, built-up roofing and protective coatings expertise.
Their eldest son Allan joined the business and helped open the first warehouse in Belgian Gardens. Following Peggy's passing in 1978, the business was renamed CBS Building Group and relocated to a larger facility in Bohle, Townsville — where it remains headquartered today.
Allan's son Keith established CBS's Cairns operations and the company expanded its service offering and geographic reach — accepting major contracts across Queensland, Tasmania, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
The group subsequently created two subsidiary businesses: North Queensland Building Supplies (NQBS) and ACP StreetPrint — giving the business a supply chain and specialist pavement division to complement the core CBS contracting operation.

Our History
Bill and Peggy Church establish North Queensland Building Services from their home, specialising in waterproofing, built-up roofing and protective coatings.
Allan Church joins the business. First warehouse opens in Belgian Gardens, Townsville.
Following Peggy Church's passing, the business is renamed CBS Building Group and relocates to Ingham Road, Bohle — where Townsville operations remain based.
CBS expands into epoxy flooring, concrete repairs and passive fire protection. Allan's son Keith establishes Cairns operations.
CBS accepts major contracts across Queensland, Tasmania, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. NQBS and ACP StreetPrint divisions established.
CBS continues to grow as the dominant specialist building services contractor in North Queensland — serving hospitals, schools, mine sites, councils and defence.
